Take Off That Heavy Backpack
Day and night your hand of discipline was heavy on me. My strength evaporated like water in the summer heat. Psalm 32:4, NLT
Have you ever done something wrong and then tried to keep it hidden? Maybe you broke something and hoped no one would notice. Maybe you said something unkind and didn’t want to admit it. Maybe you made a mistake and tried to bury it.
Here’s the thing: carrying that kind of hidden guilt is exhausting. It’s like wearing a heavy backpack that gets heavier every day. It zaps your energy, makes you grumpy, and creates an uncomfortable distance between you and God.
King David knew exactly what this felt like. He writes in Psalm 32 that when he hid his sin, he felt drained. He said it was like all his strength evaporated like “water in the summer heat”. The guilt was wearing him out.
But when he finally admitted to God what he had done, everything changed. He said, “I acknowledged my sin to You, and my iniquity I have not hidden. I said, ‘I will confess my transgressions to the Lord,’ and You forgave the iniquity of my sin” (Psalm 32:5). David was immediately forgiven. And just like that, the weight was gone and the relief was real.
That same relief is available to you! The Bible promises: “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9). Admitting what you’ve done wrong (also called confessing) isn’t scary—it’s the most freeing thing you can do!
Take Action: Is there something wrong you’ve done that you’ve been carrying like a heavy backpack? Right now, find a quiet spot, and tell God exactly what it is. You don’t have to use fancy words. Just be honest. Then receive His forgiveness. Say out loud, “Thank You, God, for forgiving me.” Feel that weight lift!

PARTNER WITH us

As a father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, the importance of family has always been a core value in my life. I have been a pastor for decades, watching families grow and generation after generation come up in faith. That is why Bible Strong Kids is so important to me. What better legacy to leave for our children and grandchildren than to raise them up in faith, strengthening them for the journey ahead all the way into adulthood?
I hope you will join us in this endeavor to create the next generation of Bible Strong Kids—children who know their worth in God’s eyes and are equipped to shine His light in an increasingly dark world.
