Catch the Wind!
But now we have been delivered from the law, having died to what we were held by, so that we should serve in the newness of the Spirit and not in the oldness of the letter. Romans 7:6
Imagine you’re in a little boat, trying to cross a big lake. You grab the oars and row…and row…and row. Your arms start to burn, and when you look up—you’ve barely moved! Rowing a boat all by yourself is exhausting work.
Now imagine you’re in a sailboat. Instead of rowing with all your might, you raise a sail. When the wind catches that sail, it pushes the boat along, and suddenly you’re gliding across the water without wearing yourself out. The power isn’t coming from your tired arms anymore. It’s coming from the wind!
For a long time, people thought the only way to please God was to try as hard as they possibly could to follow every single rule on their own strength (like row, row, rowing the boat). But that makes us tired, and we can never do it well enough. So God gave us something better. When we trust in Jesus, He gives us the Holy Spirit to live inside us. The Bible even compares the Holy Spirit to wind! The Spirit is like wind in our sails—God’s own power helping us love Him and obey Him, instead of us just straining on our own.
We can’t become like Jesus by trying harder. But we can “raise our sail.” We can ask the Holy Spirit to fill us and carry us along. That’s the brand-new way God wants us to live!
Take Action: Start each day this week by “raising your sail.” When you wake up, before you even get out of bed, pray something like: “Holy Spirit, I don’t want to just row on my own today. Please fill me like wind fills a sail, and carry me along. Help me love God and others.” Then head into your day trusting that God’s power is moving you forward. You don’t have to do it all on your own strength!

PARTNER WITH us

As a father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, the importance of family has always been a core value in my life. I have been a pastor for decades, watching families grow and generation after generation come up in faith. That is why Bible Strong Kids is so important to me. What better legacy to leave for our children and grandchildren than to raise them up in faith, strengthening them for the journey ahead all the way into adulthood?
I hope you will join us in this endeavor to create the next generation of Bible Strong Kids—children who know their worth in God’s eyes and are equipped to shine His light in an increasingly dark world.
