May Moms: Mary—The Mom Who Said Yes
Then Mary said, “Behold the maidservant of the Lord! Let it be to me according to your word.” Luke 1:38
Has anyone ever asked you to do something that seemed impossible, and you had to decide whether to say yes or no?
In the Bible, Mary was a young teenage girl when the angel Gabriel appeared to her with the most astonishing message anyone has ever received. God wanted her to be the mother of Jesus, the Son of God. It seemed impossible. It would be confusing to explain. It would change her whole life. And nothing about her life would ever be the same.
Of course, Mary had questions. So Gabriel explained. And then Mary made one of the most important decisions in all of human history. She said yes to God.
In Luke 1:38, Mary called herself “the maidservant of the Lord,” meaning she already saw her life as belonging to God, ready to do whatever He asked. And her answer was simply: “Let it be to me according to your word.” She didn’t argue. She didn’t bargain. She didn’t say, “Give me some time to think about it.” She said yes.
Because Mary was willing to surrender her plans to God’s plans, the whole world was changed forever. Jesus was born. Salvation came. God’s greatest promise to humanity was fulfilled—all because a young girl said one word: yes.
Saying yes to God might not always be easy. But it always leads somewhere incredible!
Think About It: Is God asking you to say yes to something right now? Maybe it’s following Him more. Maybe it’s forgiving someone who hurt you. Maybe it’s being brave about sharing your faith. Whatever it is, think about this... What would it look like to be like Mary and say, “Let it be according to Your word”? Ask God to give you a heart that’s ready and willing to say yes to Him!

PARTNER WITH us

As a father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, the importance of family has always been a core value in my life. I have been a pastor for decades, watching families grow and generation after generation come up in faith. That is why Bible Strong Kids is so important to me. What better legacy to leave for our children and grandchildren than to raise them up in faith, strengthening them for the journey ahead all the way into adulthood?
I hope you will join us in this endeavor to create the next generation of Bible Strong Kids—children who know their worth in God’s eyes and are equipped to shine His light in an increasingly dark world.
