Living for God or for Yourself?
For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life. Galatians 6:8
Here’s a question: Are you living for yourself or for God? Living for yourself means you mostly think about what YOU want. You make choices based on what makes YOU happy. You use your talents and abilities to make YOUR life better.
Living for God means you think about what GOD wants. You make choices based on what the Bible says is right. You use your talents and abilities to help others and show them God’s love. The Bible calls this “sowing to the flesh” versus “sowing to the Spirit.” Sowing to the flesh is like planting seeds in bad soil—they might look okay for a little while, but eventually they’ll die. Sowing to the Spirit is like planting seeds in really good soil—they’ll grow into something beautiful that lasts forever!
Here’s what the Bible says will happen: If you live only for yourself, you’ll end up separated from God forever. But if you live for God and follow Jesus, you’ll get to live with Him forever in heaven!
The cool thing is that living for God doesn’t make your life boring! Actually, when you live for God, your life has MORE meaning and purpose! You get to be part of God’s amazing plan!
Think About It: Think about the choices you made yesterday. Were you mostly thinking about what YOU wanted, or were you thinking about what God wants? Here’s a challenge: Tomorrow, before you make any big decisions, stop and ask yourself: “Would this choice please God? Is this what Jesus would want me to do?” Then choose to live for God instead of for yourself! You might be amazed at how different your day feels!

PARTNER WITH us

As a father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, the importance of family has always been a core value in my life. I have been a pastor for decades, watching families grow and generation after generation come up in faith. That is why Bible Strong Kids is so important to me. What better legacy to leave for our children and grandchildren than to raise them up in faith, strengthening them for the journey ahead all the way into adulthood?
I hope you will join us in this endeavor to create the next generation of Bible Strong Kids—children who know their worth in God’s eyes and are equipped to shine His light in an increasingly dark world.
