He Became One of Us
For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that you through His poverty might become rich. 2 Corinthians 8:9
Imagine if a prince lived in a huge, beautiful castle with servants, fancy food, and everything he could ever want. Now imagine that prince chose to leave all of that behind to live in a tiny tent with no heat, eating simple food, just so he could help poor people. That would be pretty amazing, right?
Well, that’s kind of what Jesus did, except way more incredible! Jesus left heaven (which is WAY better than any castle) to be born as a regular baby in a regular family. He didn’t come as a famous king living in a palace. He came as a carpenter’s son in a small town.
The Bible says Jesus “became poor” so that WE could “become rich.” But it’s not talking about money! Jesus gave up all the glory and riches of heaven so that we could become spiritually rich—which means we can have a relationship with God, be forgiven for our sins, and live with Him forever in heaven!
If you had passed Jesus on the street when He was on earth, you probably wouldn’t have thought, “Wow, there goes someone super important!” He looked like a regular person. But that was the whole point! Jesus became one of us so He could understand us, teach us, and save us!
Think About It: Jesus gave up EVERYTHING to come and save you. How does that make you feel? Take a minute to thank Jesus for leaving heaven to come to earth. Think about what it means that the Creator of the universe chose to become a baby, learn to walk, get hungry, feel tired, and experience life just like you do—all because He loves you THAT much!

PARTNER WITH us

As a father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, the importance of family has always been a core value in my life. I have been a pastor for decades, watching families grow and generation after generation come up in faith. That is why Bible Strong Kids is so important to me. What better legacy to leave for our children and grandchildren than to raise them up in faith, strengthening them for the journey ahead all the way into adulthood?
I hope you will join us in this endeavor to create the next generation of Bible Strong Kids—children who know their worth in God’s eyes and are equipped to shine His light in an increasingly dark world.
