The Christmas Tree Connection
The tree of life was also in the midst of the garden. Genesis 2:9
Have you ever thought about why we bring a tree inside our house for Christmas? It’s kind of a funny tradition when you think about it! But Christmas trees have been a part of celebrating Jesus’ birth for hundreds of years.
One really cool thing about having a real Christmas tree indoors is that you get to see God’s amazing creation up close! Every single needle on that tree was designed by God. Every branch follows a pattern He created.
Some people think the Christmas tree reminds us of something from the very beginning of the Bible: the Tree of Life in the Garden of Eden. That tree represented eternal life—living forever with God. When Adam and Eve sinned, they couldn’t eat from the Tree of Life anymore. But Jesus came to fix that problem!
Because Jesus died on the cross (which was made from a tree!), we can have eternal life again! The Bible even talks about a Tree of Life in heaven. So when you look at your Christmas tree, you can remember that Jesus came to give us eternal life!
Take Action: Look closely at your Christmas tree or any evergreen branch. Notice its details and thank God for being such an amazing Creator! Then remember: Just like God designed that tree, He designed YOU. Write a prayer of thanks to God for creating you and for sending Jesus so you can have eternal life!
