Has a friend ever let you down in a really big way? Maybe they shared a secret you told them. Maybe they turned the whole friend group against you. Maybe they just disappeared and stopped being your friend and you didn’t know why. Getting hurt by someone you trusted is one of the most painful feelings there is!

You’re not alone. The Bible is full of stories about betrayal. David, the great king who wrote so many of the Psalms, was hurt over and over again by close friends who turned against him. Joseph’s own brothers threw him in a pit and sold him as a slave! And even Jesus was betrayed by Judas, one of His twelve closest disciples. He knows exactly how it feels to be hurt by someone you loved and trusted!

And because Jesus knows how it feels, He totally understands when it happens to you. But here’s the best part: Jesus will never do that to you. He will never share your secrets, never turn on you, never walk away, and He will never stop being your friend. The Bible says Jesus calls His followers not just servants, but friends (John 15:15). Can you believe it? The King of the universe calls you His friend!

People will sometimes let you down. It’s sad but that’s part of living in a broken world. But Jesus? He is the most true, most loyal, and most faithful friend you will ever have!

Take Action: Take a minute right now and thank Jesus out loud for being your faithful, forever Friend. Then ask Him to help you be that kind of friend to others: loyal, trustworthy, and always there when it counts. Who in your life needs a faithful friend right now? Go be that for them this week!
