Who’s the Boss of You?

Do you not know that to whom you present yourselves slaves to obey, you are that one’s slaves whom you obey, whether of sin leading to death, or of obedience leading to righteousness? Romans 6:16

Who’s the “boss” of you? You might say your parents or a teacher. But when the Bible asks this question, it’s about something a lot deeper. It’s asking what controls your heart and your choices. Because the truth is, everyone follows something. And that can either pull you into doing wrong or pull you closer to God.The apostle Paul says that before we accept Jesus as our Savior, sin can act like a bossy ruler over us, telling us what to do and making us feel stuck....

Who’s the “boss” of you? You might say your parents or a teacher. But when the Bible asks this question, it’s about something a lot deeper. It’s asking what controls your heart and your choices. Because the truth is, everyone follows something. And that can either pull you into doing wrong or pull you closer to God.

The apostle Paul says that before we accept Jesus as our Savior, sin can act like a bossy ruler over us, telling us what to do and making us feel stuck. But the wonderful part is that Jesus came to set us free! When we accept Jesus’s forgiveness for our sins, He breaks sin’s power over us and becomes our good and loving leader instead. We don’t have to be controlled by bad habits, guilt, or shame anymore.

So here’s the question: which boss would you rather have? Sin, which leads to sadness and trouble? Or God, who leads us into freedom, joy, and life? When we let God lead our hearts, He sets us free to become who He made us to be!

Think About It: What kinds of things sometimes try to be the “boss” of your heart? It could be selfishness, anger, lying, or always wanting your own way. Guess what? You don’t have to let those things be the boss! When you ask Jesus to lead you, He sets you free and helps you live His way. If you’ve never asked Jesus to be the leader of your life, you can talk to Him about that today. Letting God be your boss is the most freeing choice you’ll ever make!

PARTNER WITH us

As a father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, the importance of family has always been a core value in my life. I have been a pastor for decades, watching families grow and generation after generation come up in faith. That is why Bible Strong Kids is so important to me. What better legacy to leave for our children and grandchildren than to raise them up in faith, strengthening them for the journey ahead all the way into adulthood?

I hope you will join us in this endeavor to create the next generation of Bible Strong Kids—children who know their worth in God’s eyes and are equipped to shine His light in an increasingly dark world.
