Recalculating!
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths. Proverbs 3:5-6
Have you ever been in a car when the GPS says, “Recalculating...” when it finds a new way to get you where you need to go?
Here’s the funny thing about that map app. It can see the whole road ahead, including the wreck or the construction miles away that’s making a bunch of traffic. But you (and the adult driving) can’t see that far. You can only see what’s out the windshield. And sometimes it can be hard to trust the GPS when it starts recalculating.
Life works like that too. Before you know God, you steer your life only by what you can see. You usually make decisions based on how you feel or what you think or whatever your friends are doing. But when you belong to God, He (RECALCULATING!) gives you a totally different way to go about life. That’s by trusting Him!
“Lean not on your own understanding” means don’t put all your weight on what you happen to think, in the moment, with the tiny bit of information you can see. God sees the whole road. He knows what’s up ahead. When His directions don’t match your gut, guess whose directions are right? His!
Take Action: Memorize Proverbs 3:5-6 this week. Break it into four chunks and learn one a day: (1) “Trust in the Lord with all your heart,” (2) “and lean not on your own understanding,” (3) “in all your ways acknowledge Him,” (4) “and He shall direct your paths.” Say it out loud while you brush your teeth. By Friday you’ll have it. And the next time you’re stuck, it’ll be right there waiting.

PARTNER WITH us

As a father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, the importance of family has always been a core value in my life. I have been a pastor for decades, watching families grow and generation after generation come up in faith. That is why Bible Strong Kids is so important to me. What better legacy to leave for our children and grandchildren than to raise them up in faith, strengthening them for the journey ahead all the way into adulthood?
I hope you will join us in this endeavor to create the next generation of Bible Strong Kids—children who know their worth in God’s eyes and are equipped to shine His light in an increasingly dark world.
